This presentation will focus on the Dell Ubuntu Linux offering on Inspiron desktops and notebooks. Topics include the history of the program at Dell, specific challenges in developing and supporting computers running Ubuntu Linux (3rd party drivers, ACPI support etc…) and our solutions for them, and some Dell created and maintained utilities (Dynamic Kernel Module Support and the Disc Remastering Utility).
Jeff Fouchard is a level two technician supporting Ubuntu Linux for Dell Inc. He has been with Dell since February 2006, and supporting the consumer Linux project since its inception. Jeff has been using Linux since Red Hat 4.2.

I'm a contributor to Neverball (http://icculus.org/neverball and http://nevercorner.net). I've been involved in a lot of local F/OSS awareness raising in Tasmania and have been behind our initiative to bring better resource sharing and encourage interaction between our F/OSS communities. I work as a sys admin/it consultant.
